Research is essential to preparing for a pandemic or for reducing the impact of seasonal flu outbreak of individuals and communities. Expanding research on influenza viruses will lead to better understanding of how these viruses change over time and how the viruses spread. From this research will come new ways to prevent and treat influenza, including how to effectively use vaccines and antivirals.
Using our facilities within the Bioscience Park Center within the Anschutz Medical Campus, as well as those of the Rocky Mountain Regional Center of Excellence in Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases at Colorado State University, FluTrends conducts research on next generation alternative products to complement the existing vaccine and antiviral programs.
Our research interests include:
- Impact analysis studies to understand Zero Point transmission models
- Ways of augmenting and complementing vaccine protection
- Ways of improving product effectiveness
- Methods of reducing the R factor for Human to Human transmission
- Animal transmission models
- Understanding future effectiveness a multi-layer solution to address seasonal and pandemic flu through human clinical trials
